Evlution Nutrition is a supplement company situated in Florida that specializes in Branch Chain Amino Acids. They sell three distinct kinds: BCAA 5000, BCAA Lean Energy (which is slightly more expensive), and "BCAA Energy," which we'll be looking at today.

It's popular, as it contains more L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine than the typical 2:1:1 ratio. Caffeine, vitamins, taurine, and other ingredients are included.


Nutrition and Ingredients for BCAA Energy

This is a calorie-free, carb-free supplement with 5 milligrams of BCAAs per two-scoop serving. This amounts to 2,500 mg of instantized L-Leucine and 1,250 mg of L-Isoleucine and L-Valine, respectively.

In addition, 500mg of beta-alanine, L-alanine, and taurine are included.

There are also some extra vitamins: 150 percent of your daily vitamin C consumption and 500 percent of your recommended daily intake of vitamins B6 and B12.

The last section of the nutrition label contains 110mg of caffeine, which is somewhat more than a cup of coffee. It's made from coffee bean and green tea extract that's been standardized for EGCG, so it's still has a lot of the phytonutrients in a cup of green tea.

Then there's the fine print: natural and artificial flavors, malic acid, citric acid, sucralose, silica, acesulfame potassium, and red color number 40. In a separate section below, we'll go through the advantages of these substances.

Benefits and Efficiency of BCAA Energy

A serving of BCAA has five grams, and while I loved how transparent the labeling is — you know how many grams of each ingredient you're getting — many people like closer to 7.5-10 grams per serving.

Here's what I liked about it: it has more beta alanine, which may help with endurance, and it has l-alanine, which may help with nitric oxide synthesis (though this hasn't been proven in healthy individuals).

The caffeine is a great addition, and the supplement also includes taurine, which can aid prevent jitteriness and balance out the caffeine's energy boost. It might also help with muscle cramping. However, I found it odd that it advertises itself as a "anytime" BCAA supplement – the caffeine in this specific brand is probably not something you want after dark.

The extra vitamins are also a plus for me. Vitamin B6 is commonly included in BCAAs and may help with energy levels. I'm not convinced that taking B12 before or after a workout is better than taking it at any other time, but it's easy to fall short of your RDI without eating a lot of red meat, so I'm delighted to have found some supplement.

Sucrose and acesulfame potassium, which might impact your gut microbiota and insulin response, may be a concern for some athletes. Although there isn't exactly scientific agreement (artificial sweeteners are a contentious topic), there is some evidence to support this claim.

It also lacks electrolytes like sodium and potassium, which many people prefer in pre-workout drinks because you're likely to sweat out some of these nutrients during a strenuous workout.

Last Word

I was pleased with the goods for the price. It offers plenty of extra amino acids to assist your performance, and the extra Vitamins are the icing on the cake. I wish it came in a larger serving size, and the artificial chemicals bothered me, but it has more to give than a pre-workout cup of coffee. Just stay away from it at night.
